Weekend Alert: 8 events that will kick-start 2020 on Staten Island

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- The first weekend of 2020 is upon us and there’s a bunch going on around Staten Island.

From art exhibitions to family-friendly workshops, there are plenty of chances to embrace your creative side while also volunteering your time for the good of the community. Here’s what is planned from Jan. 3 to 5.

READING SERIES AT HUB 17: JAN. 5

The Edgewater Reading Series is making its way back to the North Shore this weekend.

The NYSAI Press and Hub 17 welcome readers and writers to a listening session Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. Staten Island writers will share their work at the event, hosted by Ellen E. Dotts, Lisa Throwback & M. A. Dennis. Admission is a suggested donation of $3.

Hub 17 is located at 73 Wave St. in Stapleton. Those who are interested in attending are encouraged to RSVP on Facebook.
